The short version of everything people ask before installing. If yours isn't here, write to us or ask on Discord.
Does it really work on Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet?▼
Yes. GhostNote is hidden at the operating-system level on both Windows and macOS — not a browser trick. It is completely invisible to Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Discord video, OBS, screen recordings, and built-in screenshot tools. It doesn't show as a black box — it simply doesn't appear at all. Your screen looks completely normal to everyone watching.
How that actually works.
Does it run on Mac?▼
Yes — GhostNote ships for both Windows and macOS. The macOS build is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other Mac app, and every update is checksum-verified before it replaces anything.
How does AI usage work — are messages unlimited?▼
GhostNote uses your own API key from whichever AI provider you choose — or a local model through Ollama with no key at all. Your message limits and costs are set by your account with that provider, not by GhostNote. Most providers give free starting credits, and paid use is usually fractions of a cent per answer.
The real arithmetic.
Do I need an account, and is there a free version?▼
Yes — a free account is required to download. Every account starts on Ghost Free: 15 minutes of use per month, resetting on the 1st, with every feature working. Upgrade to Ghost Pro ($11.99/mo) or Ghost Lifetime ($250 once) anytime for unlimited usage. There are no license keys — signing in to the app links your plan automatically.
What happens if I get a new computer?▼
Message ghostaidev on Discord with your account details. HWID transfers are free and usually done within a few hours.
Can I add my AI key later, or do I need it to start?▼
You can add your AI API key right after install in the setup wizard, or add and change it anytime from Account Settings. You can also add multiple providers and switch between them inside the app.
